Dr. Yeong is a Professor of Medical Physics at Taylor's University, Malaysia, and a leading figure in the field of medical physics worldwide. She is the current President of the Southeast Asia Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (SEAFOMP) and Chair of the Medical Physics World Board of the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP). She also serves as an IOMP Accreditation Board Member and a Committee Member of the Professional Relations Committee of the Asia-Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP). Additionally, she is a co-founder of the ASEAN College of Medical Physics (ACOMP), envisioning a sustainable platform for medical physics education and training in ASEAN.

Dr. Yeong serves as an expert for multiple IAEA Task Groups and regional projects. In Malaysia, she plays a crucial role in national regulatory and professional development efforts, serving on the Steering Committee of the National Diagnostic Reference Levels Task Group (2021–2022), Committee of the Radiation Protection Officer in Medicine Task Group (2019–2027), and the Technical Committee of National Nuclear Technology. She also represents medical physics in the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Technical Committee for Allied Health Professionals. From 2021 to 2023, she served as the Malaysian Counterpart for the IAEA regional project on internal dosimetry software for radionuclide therapy.

Her research focuses on theranostic nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, and 3D printing in medicine. She has secured over RM3 million in research grants, owns four patents, and has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, three academic books, and two book chapters. She is Editor-in-Chief of the e-Medical Physics World (eMPW) Bulletin and IOMP Newsletter. She is a Guest Lecturer at Kyushu University, Japan, a Visiting Associate Supervisor at Curtin University, Australia, and an Adjunct Professor at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia (2026–2027). Locally, she is a visiting lecturer at University of Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and KPJ University. To date, she has successfully supervised 54 postgraduate students in medical physics and radiology, with 11 ongoing PhD and Master's students under her mentorship. Her awards include the IUPAP Young Scientist Award (2021), Fellow of IUPESM (2025), Fellow of IOMP (2025), SEAFOMP Young Leaders Award (2017), and Certificate of Merit from the European Society of Radiology (2012).
